About Me

I’m Cherise Kratsa-Hoak, a kiln-fired glass artist based in Massachusetts with over two decades of experience working in glass. My work focuses on abstract form, layered depth, and contour-fired techniques. Alongside my studio practice, I teach and write to help other artists expand their technical confidence and creative freedom.

Artist Statement

Glass is a material often associated with coldness and rigidity, yet I am compelled to bring warmth, emotion, and life into it. My work explores depth—both physical and emotional—using glass as a medium for expression rather than limitation.

I draw upon universal fears, memories, and sentiments, inviting viewers to recognize something familiar within the work. When a piece sparks an emotional response or a moment of recognition, it has fulfilled its purpose.

Teaching & Instruction

In addition to my studio practice, I offer glass instruction for artists ranging from beginner to advanced levels. My classes focus on technique, process understanding, and creative confidence, with an emphasis on kiln-fired and architectural glass work.
